Winter League is coming…

Soon, very soon…

The Maine Squash Winter League 2016-2017 will soon begin accepting signups for roster positions!! Expect the links to be live by Saturday, October 29th!

It is an exciting time for squash in Maine. Portland Community Squash (PCS) has successfully raised money and purchased a facility that will be the new home for 4 brand new Court-Tech international courts with modern lighting and in a wonderful facility loaded with character! Interest in squash has never been greater and early demand for roster positions and signup information has come earlier and more frequently then ever before!

The goal of the Winter League was has always been to provide a structured, team oriented experience where you can regularly play with others and enjoy the wonderful dynamics of playing for your team and having them there to support you. With the new PCS courts scheduled to be open for play around the end of December (estimated…) we’ll now have TWO squash facilities where squash players in the southern Maine area can play.

We’ve arranged for the Winter League to expand the number of players and utilize courts at both the Portland YMCA and the new courts at Portland Community Squash.

Some early details:

  • Increase total players by 33% from 54 to 72 (8 teams of 9 players, 10 teams of 7, 15 teams of 5 are all possible) subject to demand and schedule considerations
  • Valid membership in either PCS or Portland YMCA is required
  • Matches will be scheduled randomly at BOTH facilities. If you are a member at EITHER facility you will be able to play on league night wherever your team is scheduled to play even if you aren’t a member at that facility. You will not have to pay a guest/day pass fee for league night.
  • Leagues teams will be set by the league
  • There will be a league fee for every player which will include an instant classic Winter League tee shirt. League fee will be in the $55-$75 range for the season.
  • Scoring system will use Club Locker, digital scoreboards and Live Scoring via iPads similar to last year
  • League Commissioner is Greg Born
