By Greg, on March 16th, 2017 Each year we are delighted when members of the Bates College Squash team come to Portland for an informal clinic. After a snow cancellation in February we are fortunate to have a number of players coming to Portland Community Squash this Saturday:
- What: Squash Clinic, Exhibition, Q&A
- Where: Portland Community Squash, 66 Noyes Stree, Portland, Maine
- When: Saturday, March 18th from Noon until 2:30pm
- Who is invited: Juniors, Adults, others
- Admission is free
- Format: Typically we have the players go through a quick warmup and then they’ll play a bit on the courts. This will be a combination of just doing drills and actual game play. We’ll move in to an informal clinic where we’ll have members of the team on court with groups of interested players sorted loosely by ability and/or age. We’ll also try to have dedicated time for Q&A in one of the classrooms. These young men and women are wonderful people with diverse and interesting backgrounds and love to talk about Bates and squash!
Please come join us for this annual event and see some of the best squash players in the country. Seeing them on the court and hitting balls is thrilling and exciting and you’ll gain new insight into the game and how it is played!
By Greg, on February 15th, 2017 Don’t miss this great opportunity to see the finest young squash players in the country compete for the College Squash Association’s Men’s Team Nationals this weekend at Harvard.
SquashTV is livestreaming throughout the weekend (Starts Friday, February 17 through Sunday February 19th) and you may watch for FREE!

By Greg, on January 10th, 2017 Wildly exciting day after 4 plus years of hard work and the support of hundreds of people in our efforts to open a new squash facility in Portland Maine!
January 10th, 2017, a mere 98 days after we closed on our purchase of a sprawling structure with a huge main hall and 6 classrooms, offices, common area and more, we opened our doors as Portland Community Squash!!
Could not have done this without the help and dedication of so many people. Our impromptu open house tonight was filled with old friends and new ones eager to learn more about the sport and our efforts to serve under privileged kids in Portland and making a difference in Maine. So happy to see the enthusiasm and genuine appreciation of all those that stopped by!!
Big thanks to all those tagged plus many, many more! And especially Barrett Takesian– without his incredible work and effort this would NEVER have happened! I’m honored to know this young man and to be a part of this adventure!
