Front walls patched!

Big thanks to the YMCA painting crew that successfully touched up the paint on the front walls of the two large courts. Thanks also to Harvey Klugman for his help in tightening the clips on the flex court tin. We will have new parts to install in a few weeks that will keep the tin firmly in place.

YMCA to touch up front wall paint

UPDATED: Courts will be closed on both Saturday AND Sunday!

I’ve confirmed that the YMCA will touch up the front wall paint on the two big courts. Work will begin Friday, February 13th at 4pm and both courts will be closed until Sunday Monday morning.

This repair is only a touch up to get us through the busy squash season. Further repairs will be made over the summer months.

First Women’s Box League posted!

We’ve seen significant growth in our base of players at the Portland YMCA in recent years. Part of this growth is a result of Holly Parker’s focus on introducing more women to the game through clinics and friendly play.

We are now at a point where this group of players can justify having their own dedicated Box League! It will follow the same basic rules and monthly cycle as the Coed league but will be open only to women.

The first month is now posted. See the links on the lower section of the Box League widget on the left side of the www.mainesquash.com page. Please encourage others to sign up and play!

February Box League Posted

Many changes in lineups left me with difficult decisions for splitting boxes. I went through several versions of Boxes 8-10 and ultimately decided to combine all players in box 8 and lower into 2 big boxes. I’m hoping that there will be plenty of matches and opportunity for players to play. I’ll attempt to reduce the box sizes back to a more manageable size next month.
