Local players playing in college

While the Portland YMCA is not normally known for producing college squash players there have been some exceptions. David Born finished a fine career at Bates College this past May and his efforts helped inspire two other local Portland area squash players.

Both Isabel Agnew and Paige Buchanan are graduates of the Portland YMCA High School program and are freshman students this fall at their respective schools. Both of them have legitimate chances to make the varsity roster to play and participate in the college program.

Isabel will be at Haverford College outside of Philadelphia.

Paige will be at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York.

Both were mentioned in the CSA season previews! We’ll be watching closely and cheering them on from Portland.

Congratulations to Isabel and Paige!

  • Play starts in early December and finishes in mid-March
  • Teams have numerous “bye” weeks… you play 2 out of 3 Mondays on average.
  • All teams make the playoffs
  • Flex scheduling NOT allowed. You must be present to help cheer on your team!
  • All matches refereed by teammates/opponents
  • Playoff finals played at Bates College (remember how awesome that was last year?)
